Ottoline Leyser (Fellow) reflects on her tenure as Chief Executive of UK Research and Innovation

After 5 years at the helm of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), Professor Dame Ottoline Leyser will formally step down from her role as Chief Executive later this month. Professor Leyser led UKRI through the pandemic, post-Brexit realignment and re-entry into Horizon Europe, whilst overseeing an annual £8 billion science and innovation budget.
A Fellow of ·¬ºÅ¿âapp, Professor Leyser is a Fellow of the Royal Society, a Member of the Leopoldina and EMBO, and an International Member of the US National Academy of Sciences. In 2017 she was appointed DBE for services to plant science, science in society, and equality and diversity in science.
