Six ·¬ºÅ¿âapp alumni recognised in the King's Birthday Honours 2025

Six members of the ·¬ºÅ¿âapp community have been recognised in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours for their outstanding contributions across a range of fields.

Brian Yates (1962) receives an MBE for services to consumer protection. Brian Yates is a chartered engineer and scientist who, alongside an international career installing machinery, dedicated over a decade volunteering in consumer advocacy—as Chair of the Consumers' Association/Which? for 13 years.

Professor Dafydd Thomas (1963) receives an OBE for services to clinical neuroscience. Professor Emeritus of Clinical Neurosciences at Imperial College London, he has specialised in molecular and cellular pathology for over 30 years and held consultant neurologist posts across several hospitals. He also chaired St Mary’s Development Trust from 2016 to 2025.

Angus Tulloch (1968) receives an MBE for services to music. Formerly Head of Global Emerging Markets/Asia Pacific at First State Investments, Angus shifted focus post-retirement to charity and policy work. He co-founded the Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums Trust, which provides free music tuition and instruments to schools across Scotland.

Anne Glover (1973, Honorary Fellow) receives a DBE for services to engineering and science business. The CEO and Co-Founder of Amadeus Capital Partners, Anne is a former Chairman of the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association and Invest Europe. She was appointed Non-Executive Director of the Court of the Bank of England in 2018, and in 2021 an external member of the Venture Capital Investment Committee of British International Investment, the UK’s development finance institution. 

Nick Down (1983) receives an OBE for services to the transformation of tax payment services. A senior UK public‑sector leader, Nick led the transformation of HMRC’s payments system by introducing Open Banking. His work significantly improved efficiency, reduced payment errors, and set a benchmark for innovation in public sector finance.

James Mews (1992) receives an MBE for services to the community and music. James is Managing Partner at Amati Law and has 25 years of experience as a senior lawyer. He was instrumental in developing Jersey’s financial laws. He advises global clients across banking, regulatory, and private client matters, and has held key roles in both government and private practice. He is also Chair of Music in Action, a charity which brings music education to hundreds of young people in Jersey every year and which organises the Liberation International Music Festival.
