Ed Harding is Director of Studies for the Physiology and Neuroscience stream of the Biological Natural Sciences Tripos, directly supervising Neurobiology (1B) and assisting with undergraduate admissions and outreach. He is also a Research Associate at the Institute of Metabolic Science and a Postdoctoral Teaching Associate in the Department of Biochemistry.

His current research investigates how obesity and diabetes contribute to neurodegenerative processes and dementia risk, with the aim of identifying druggable targets. Ed completed a PhD in Neuroscience and Biophysics at Imperial College London with Professors Bill Wisden and Nick Franks, where he identified hypothalamic circuits linking temperature sensation to sleep onset and studied the mechanisms of sedative drugs. He also holds an MRes in Biochemical Research from Imperial College London and a BSc in Pharmacology from the University of Manchester, including a placement year at GlaxoSmithKline.
